Why Choose Australian Made Alpaca Scarves & Neckwear?

Choosing an Australian made alpaca scarf or neckwarmer brings together the beautiful natural qualities of alpaca with local craftsmanship.

Alpaca is valued for its softness, lightweight feel and natural ability to provide comfortable insulation without unnecessary bulk. This makes it particularly beautiful for scarves and neckwear that are worn close to the skin.

Combined with carefully selected fibres such as cashmere and silk, alpaca can create everything from smooth, softly draping scarves to delicate Suri pieces and wonderfully textured bouclé styles.

Soft, Lightweight and Easy to Wear

One of the things people love most about alpaca is how much comfort it can provide while still feeling beautifully light.

Alpaca scarves and neckwarmers are easy to layer, comfortable to wear and simple to style. Wear a classic scarf loosely over knitwear, add a neckwarmer for an effortless finishing touch, or choose a cowl or snood when you want something soft, versatile and a little different.

Their lightweight feel makes them easy to wear across changing temperatures, while the variety of colours, textures and styles means they can be just as much about completing an outfit as adding an extra layer.

Proudly Australian Made

Australian Alpaca Barn was established with a passion for supporting the Australian alpaca industry and promoting quality products made from alpaca fibre.

Australian-made products remain an important part of our range today. Our Australian made alpaca socks are selected for their quality, comfort and practicality, while supporting local manufacturing and the skills that keep Australian textile production alive.

What Are Alpaca Socks Made From?

Alpaca socks are generally made from a carefully balanced fibre blend rather than alpaca alone. Alpaca contributes softness, comfort and natural insulation, while fibres such as wool, nylon and elastane may be included to add durability, shape retention and stretch — particularly important in a product such as a sock that receives regular wear.

The exact fibre composition varies by style, so you can find the full fibre content on each product page.

How to Care for Alpaca Socks

Proper care will help keep your alpaca socks looking and feeling their best. Follow the care instructions supplied with your particular pair, as fibre blends can vary between styles.

As a general guide, our alpaca socks can be machine washed in cold water. Placing them inside a laundry bag or pillowcase can provide some additional protection during washing. Hand washing is an even gentler option. Allow your socks to air dry and avoid tumble drying unless the individual product instructions specifically state otherwise.
